Reflections on Texas

It has probably been said that Dallas is to LA as Austin is to San Francisco, but I would go a step further to say that Dallas is Los Angeles without all the fun stuff to do.

When I think of Dallas I think of heat, bright sunlight, traffic congestion, pavement, urban sprawl, no major natural water source, SUV’s and superficially-dressed women with breast implants. In other words, LA minus the movie and music industry.

  1. Funny, when I think of Austin I think of heat, bright sunlight, traffic congestion[1], pavement, and urban sprawl. It seems like Dallas only has them beat on water and socialites. Then again, I’ve only been to Dallas once, so what do I know?

    1) Spend two hours a day for three years on Mopac, and you too will associate Austin with traffic. And when I lived there, traffic was even worse on I-35.

  2. Yes Austin has all those things, only at 1/2 the size of Dallas. Multiply everything you hate about Austin by about 2 or 3 and that’s Dallas. Then subtract everything that’s cool about Austin.
